SHELTON STATE CULINARY ARTS PARTICIPATES IN DEATH BY CHOCOLATE

Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Shelton State Community College’s culinary arts students participated in Death by Chocolate on Thursday, April 21, at the Tuscaloosa River Market.

Chef Pleshette Bevelle led the culinary arts student team as they prepared their original recipe bacon chipotle chocolate truffles drizzled with butter maple sauce. The team placed second in the overall competition.

Death by Chocolate is an annual community fundraiser for the Family Counseling Center. At the event, local restaurants and caterers prepare their best chocolate dessert. With the purchase of a ticket, attendees are able to sample each recipe and vote for their favorite.

“The students had a great time and loved sharing their creation with the community,” said culinary arts and nutrition instructor, Dr. Carolyn Williams. “It was also great for the community to see our program and talented students in action.”
