SHELTON STATE’S PHI THETA KAPPA HOLDS SPRING INDUCTION CEREMONY

Tuscaloosa, Alabama – On Thursday, April 21, Shelton State’s Alpha Epsilon Iota chapter of Phi Theta Kappa held its spring induction ceremony with over eighty students eligible for induction.

Following a welcome by Dr. Cynthia T. Anthony, Interim President, remarks were shared by the Dean of Student Services, Amanda Harbison, and the Dean of Instruction and Workforce Development, Dr. Joye Jones. Brenda Ryan, retired faculty member and former Phi Theta Kappa advisor, delivered the keynote address.

In addition to the induction of new members, 2016-17 officers were formally installed during the ceremony. The new Phi Theta Kappa Officers are Andrew Stronge, President, Alyssa Bracknell, Vice President of Scholarship, Brooke Rodenberry, Co-Vice President of Leadership, Matthew Marshall, Co-Vice President of Leadership, Courtney Franklin, Vice President of Service, Jenna Lawrence, Vice President of Fellowship, Zack Hicks, Vice President of Honors in Action, Nicole Martin, Vice President of College Project, April Blackwell, Vice President of Records, and Savannah Hodge, Vice President of Membership.

Phi Theta Kappa’s current advisor, Dr. Kevin Windham, acknowledged the efforts and accomplishments of the 2015-16 officers and members, and recognized faculty advisor, Shywanda Moore, for receiving the Paragon Award for New Advisors.

To become a member of Phi Theta Kappa, students must complete twelve credit hours of courses applicable to a degree and hold a 3.5 grade point average. For more information about Phi Theta Kappa, contact kwindham@sheltonstate.edu.
