FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: THEATRE TUSCALOOSA REPRISES CROWD FAVORITE ALWAYS… PATSY CLINE

January 7, 2014 (TUSCALOOSA, AL) – Theatre Tuscaloosa will present Always… Patsy Cline Jan. 24 – Feb. 2 in the Bean-Brown Theatre on Shelton State’s Martin Campus.

Written and originally directed by Ted Swindley, Always... Patsy Cline tells the heartwarming true story of the friendship that blossomed between country music legend Patsy Cline and her most devoted fan, Louise Seger. This funny, musical stroll down memory lane is packed with Cline’s signature hits like “Crazy,” “Walkin’ After Midnight,” and “I Fall to Pieces."

Paul Looney, director and artistic director emeritus, said he has directed this show five times before and that he is sure this production will be a hit with audiences of all ages.

“This is the show that everybody wants to see again,” Looney said. “It’s a classic, and I’m honored to be able to work with such a talented cast and crew to bring it to life once more.”

Looney is joined by a stellar production team including Ernie Turley, musical director; Jeanette Waterman, costume designer; John Hisey, lighting designer and Frank Duren, sound designer. Along with directing, Looney will be pulling double-duty as scenic designer.

Both Sara Catherine Wheatley (Patsy Cline) and Lauren Wilson (Louise Seger) will be reprising their roles in this beloved Theatre Tuscaloosa production.

“I am excited to be returning to the Bean-Brown stage,” Wheatley said.

She last performed with Theatre Tuscaloosa while a student at The University of Alabama. Since graduating, she has relocated to Portland, Oregon, where she has been performing professionally with Portland Center Stage and The Broadway Rose Theatre Company.

Wheatley is joined by Tuscaloosa resident Wilson who said that audience members should expect to relax and simply ‘have a good time.’

“Always… Patsy Cline is just plain fun to watch and be a part of,” Wilson said. “This show is guaranteed to make you smile; you might even want to get up and do the two-step.”

Theatre Tuscaloosa’s 2013-14 Season: Cheers to 15 Years! is presented in cooperation with Shelton State Community College and is sponsored by Jamison Money Farmer and Co. Always… Patsy Cline is sponsored by Mercedes, Warrior Roofing Manufacturing Inc. and the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
