Shelton State Students Named to All-Alabama Academic Team

Tuscaloosa – Chelsey Bowerman and Danesha Prewitt have been selected to represent Shelton State Community College as members of the 2014 All-Alabama Academic Team.

Bowerman of Northport, Alabama and Prewitt of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, will be honored and recognized by the Alabama Community College System at a celebration dinner in Montgomery, Alabama, on April 11, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. Each student will be recognized and receive a $1,000 academic scholarship from the All-USA Academic Program.

Bowerman, a pre-business major, plans to transfer to the University of Alabama after earning her associate’s degree at Shelton State. Her goal is to earn her master’s degree in accounting. Prewitt also is a pre-business major. She plans to earn a degree in business and computer science so she can provide technology consulting services to businesses.

All-Alabama Academic team members are nominated by the faculty and reviewed by a selection committee. To be eligible, students must have a 3.25 minimum GPA, complete at least 12 hours at the nominating college, and be involved in campus activities. Each community college in the Alabama Community College System nominates two students. The team nominees also are entered in the All-USA Academic team competition sponsored by USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa.
