Cosmetology Program Presents Annual Hair and Fashion Show

Tuscaloosa – Students in the Cosmetology Program at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa presented their annual hair and fashion show completion on Thursday, April 25 in the Martin Campus Atrium.

The theme for this year’s show was “Decades,” saluting hairstyles and fashions from the 1940s through the present day.

Winners for the 40s and 50s were: First Place Stylists Marissa McMillian, Elizabeth Prescott, and Kathryn Shinstock. Their model was Ashley Christian. Second Place Stylist Kelsey Thompson with model Ashley Hallmark; Third Place Stylist was Sarah Mullenix with model Meredith McGee.

Winners for the 60s and 70s were: First Place Stylist was Shamekia Woods with model Felinda Carpenter; Second Place Stylist was Jasmine Rulliam with model Waad Ali; and Third Place Stylist Erica Prude with model Calven Colbert.

Winners for the 80s and 90s were: First Place Stylist Ann Jones with model Destinei Bell; Second Place Stylist was Pamela White with model Hannah Clemmons; and Third Place Stylist was Sebastin Chatman with model Tyesha Lawson.

Winners for the 2000s were: First Place Stylist Ciera Anderson with model Adrianne Williams; Second Place Stylist was Naverro Hudson with model Danny Beard; and Third Place Stylist was Jasmine Pulliam with model Stacy London.

Competion judges were Sonya Ivy Smith, Richard Patton, and T.J. Wright.

Over 70 students participated in the event which was under the direction of the SSCC Cosmetology Department: Shirley Nix, Division Chair, and instructors Latoya Simmons, Melissa Lesley, Meghan McAbee, and Wynell Moore.
