Randle Receives Statewide Honor as Faculty Member of the Year

Tuscaloosa - The Alabama Community College Association named Shelton State Community College

mathematics instructor Renea Randle, as the “Outstanding Alabama Community College Faculty

Member of 2012” at the Chancellor's Awards Ceremony held on Sunday, November 18, in

Birmingham, Alabama.

Randle, who joined the Shelton State mathematics faculty in August 2010, has a Master’s Degree in

mathematics and a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics with a minor in mechanical engineering from

Mississippi State University. Prior to joining the SSCC faculty, she taught at Itawamba Community

College in Fulton, Mississippi for twenty five years.

At Shelton State she has written two NASA Space grant proposals which were fully funded, gained

membership for SSCC into the Alabama Space Grant Consortium, one of only two community

colleges with membership, and organized and implemented the inaugural “Engineering Day” on

campus.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, Randle has been a presenter at numerous conferences and is

actively involved in community programs.
