Shelton State to Host Men's and Women's ACCC Basketball Championships

Tuscaloosa - The 2012 Alabama Community College Conference's Division I Basketball Championships will take place in Tuscaloosa at Shelton State Community College’s Martin Campus gymnasium at 9500 Old Greensboro Road.

The ACCC women's tournament will tip-off on Sunday, March 4, at 1:00 p.m. with games also scheduled for 3:00, 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tournament play will continue on Monday and Tuesday with the women's championship game to be played at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7.

The ACCC men's tournament will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, with games following at 1:00, 3:00, and 5:30 p.m. Tournament play will continue on Thursday and Friday. The men’s championship game will be played at 7:30 p.m. on March 10.

The Shelton State’s women’s basketball team is currently ranked Number 8 in the national polls and the men’s team is ranked Number 10.

Expected to participate in the tournament are teams from Alabama Southern Community College (Monroeville), Bishop State Community College (Mobile), Chattahoochee Valley Community College (Phenix City), Enterprise State Community College (Enterprise), Faulkner State Community College (Bay Minette), Gadsden State Community College (Gadsden), Jefferson Davis Community College (Brewton), Lawson State Community College (Birmingham), Marion Military Institute (Marion), Southern Union Community College (Wadley), Shelton State Community College (Tuscaloosa), Wallace State Community College (Hanceville), Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (Andalusia), and Wallace Community College (Selma).

The winning teams will advance to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. All games will be webcast live on iHigh at www.ihigh.com/sscc. For more information, call Barry Mohun at 205.391.2918.
