TWO SHELTON STATE STUDENTS RECOGNIZED

Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Interim Chancellor Susan Price praised some of the state’s top students during the 2012 All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program in Montgomery on April 5.

Cynthia Dent and Sean Hiller, from Shelton State Community College were among the fifty All-Alabama students, representing 25 of Alabama’s community and technical colleges, honored for their exceptional academic achievement, distinguished leadership, and community service.

SSCC NURSING STUDENTS HOST SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

On April 13, 2012 the PN and ADN Nursing students will compete against each other in softball game on the Martin Campus. The game begins at 1:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Tickets are $3 each and all proceeds will go to the Relay for Life Cancer Walk on April 20, 2012 and the Step Out Diabetes Walk on September 15, 2012. Concessions will be available.

RESPIRATORY THERAPY PROGRAM ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The Shelton State Community College Respiratory Therapy Program will be accepting fall 2012 admission applications from May 1 to June 1, 2012. RESPIRATORY THERAPY STUDENTS PREPARE FOR GRADUATION

The newly revised Shelton State Respiratory Therapy Program is preparing its first class of students in for graduation May 8, 2012. The students will visit DCH Regional Medical Center on April 13 for a Clinical Stations Day hosted by the DCH program’s Medical Director, Dr. Narayan Krishnamurthy. The students will review critical care concepts, nutritional requirements for critically ill patients, sleep studies, evaluation strategies, organized clinical decision making, and effective treatment techniques.
