THEATRE TUSCALOOSA AND TUSCALOOSA CHILDREN’S THEATRE PARTNER TO OFFER

THEATRE CAMP 2011 FOR KIDS 5 TO 18

TUSCALOOSA, AL – Theatre Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa Children’s Theatre are partnering for the first time to offer Theatre Camp 2011, a summer day-camp that will run June 20-July 1 on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Tuscaloosa Children’s Theatre this year,” said Theatre Tuscaloosa Executive Producer Tina Turley. “By pooling the resources and talented instructors from both organizations, we can provide Tuscaloosa area children with a truly exceptional and creative summer experience.”

Camp classes will be taught by some of the most experienced and well-trained theatre artists in our community: Tina Turley, Brent Jones, Stacy Alley, Benny Russell, Lindsey Jones, Matthew von Redlich, and Drew Baker.

“I am extremely proud of the amazing faculty that we’ve put together for this camp,” said camp coordinator, Brent Jones. “These folks have collectively clocked thousands of hours of stage time, and several even have Master of Fine Arts degrees. Our students will literally be learning from the pros.”

Classes will meet Monday through Friday between 8:15 a.m. and noon June 20-July 1. Children will be sorted by age in the following groupings: 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13 and up. The following classes will be offered: Storybook Theatre, Stage Movement, Improvisation, Music of the Theatre, Stage Combat, Let's Put on a Show, Imagination Express, Curtain Up!, Total Production, and Body and Voice.

Students can take up to four classes during the camp. The schedule is flexible, however, allowing parents to pick and choose sessions as needed. Prices are $250 for all four, $200 for three, $145 for two, or $80 for one. Registrations are limited to 18 per class and are filled on a first-come-first-served basis. More details and an official registration form are available at http://camp.tuscaloosachildrenstheatre.com or by calling camp coordinator Brent Jones at 205. 792.8275.
