SSCC Phi Theta Kappa Honored At State Convention

TUSCALOOSA – The Shelton State Community College Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa received multiple honors at the Alabama Regional Convention held in Bay Minette, Alabama, March 12 -13.

Among the honors presented were: “Distinguished Chapter,” “Pinnacle Award,” “Five Star Chapter Development Program,” “Distinguished Officer” presented to Brittany Lee, VP of Service and the Regional VP of Service, “Distinguished Advisor” presented to Claire Brock. Also recognized were Courtney Cloud and Brittany Lee as “All-Alabama recipients.”

“Five Star Awards signify that a chapter has reached the highest standards and participation in PTK,” said Brock. “The Pinnacle Award indicates an increase in membership of at least 10% over the previous year. Shelton State’s chapter increased membership by 25%!”

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.5 million members and 1,200 chapters located in 50 United States, U.S. territories, Canada, and Germany.
