SHELTON STATE PITCHER CORY MCGINNIS DRAFTED BY PITTSBURGH PIRATES
Shelton State Community College right-handed pitcher Cory McGinnis was drafted Wednesday by the
Pittsburgh Pirates in the 44th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. In 2010, the Pittsburgh
native pitched in 18 games for the Bucs, posting a record of 11-2 with a 3.93 ERA.
"Cory is a good power pitcher," said Shelton State Head Coach Bobby Sprowl. "Obviously you see from
his double-digit wins that he pitches with success. I expect him to have a long career in baseball.”
McGinnis is the second Buccaneer drafted, as his outfielder teammate Kenny Fleming was drafted Tuesday
by the Atlanta Braves in the 30th round.
