SHELTON STATE CELEBRATES SUCCESS AT BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS
TUSCALOOSA – A group of more than two-dozen employees and students were recognized and broadcaster Chris Stewart served as the guest speaker as Quality Month at Shelton State Community College culminated in the annual Breakfast of Champions on Wednesday.
Those recognized at the breakfast were College employees or students who earned a particular honor or distinction during the 2008-09 academic year. Those who were honored include:
Keith Crowley – Dr. John N. Todd Award
Phillip Johnson – League of Innovation Award for the AED
Julia Chancy – Outstanding Service by the Literacy Council of West Alabama
Jackie Williams – Vice President for Alabama State Nurses Association 2009-2011
Bobby Sprowl – Alabama Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame Inductee, NJCAA District Coach of the Year, ACCC Coach of the Year
Barry Mohun – Birmingham Tip Off Club Junior College Coach of the Year, NJCAA District Coach of the Year, ACCC Coach of the Year
Madonna Thompson – NJCAA District Coach of the Year, ACCC Coach of the Year
Christa Grizzle – Coach of 2009 UCA National Champion Cheerleaders Junior College Division

Quality Month at Shelton State is an outgrowth of the College’s overall quality improvement initiative, through which the College has transformed itself from a traditional committee system to a team-based model for employee participation in College governance. The initiative promotes cooperation, collaboration, and team throughout the organization and helps drive the College toward continuous improvement of processes and services to its customers.
