Shelton State Sophomore Elected Alabama Regional President of PTK

TUSCALOOSA – At the Alabama Regional Convention of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Justin Grimes of Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was elected the 2008 Alabama Regional President of Phi Theta Kappa.

Grimes, a native of Columbus, Mississippi and a graduate of New Hope High School, is the son of Cheri and Bruce Grimes of Columbus.

Also at the convention held March 7-8, 2008, at Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Shelton State’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter received the 5 Star Award for its involvement in the various Phi Theta Kappa Hallmarks.

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.5 million members and 1,200 chapters located in 50 United States, U.S. territories, Canada, and Germany.
