New Executive Producer Chosen for Theatre Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa – Theatre Tuscaloosa and Shelton State Community College have selected Tina Fitch to serve as Executive Producer of the organization.
Fitch has a diverse background in the arts with over 20 years experience as a director, actor, writer, teacher and theater manager.
A resident of Tuscaloosa for the past 10 years, Fitch has directed numerous shows for Theatre Tuscaloosa including: “Rumors,” “Death of a Salesman,” “The Woman in Black,” and “Nunsense,” among others.
“We are delighted to have someone of Tina’s experience to lead our organization as we celebrate our 35th anniversary season,” said David Ford, president of Theatre Tuscaloosa’s Board of Directors. “She is well respected by our volunteers and I’m sure that in her new position she will lead the organization with great skill.”
Fitch was formerly Ticket Office Supervisor and Second Stage Coordinator for Theatre Tuscaloosa. She holds a B.A. in theatre and speech from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas; M.S. in theatre from Texas A&M - Commerce, Texas; and an M.F.A. in theatre/directing from the University of Alabama and since her graduation served as an interim faculty member in the areas of Acting and Theater Management. Her directing credits at UA include “Holy Ghosts,” “Hamlet,” “A View From the Bridge,” and “Breaking Legs.” She also directed “The Medium” and “The Elixir of Love” for the U.A. Opera program in the School of Music.
As a writer, Fitch’s credits include “Stars Fell On Alabama” and ‘Invision Magic” (in collaboration with Chris Gordon) for the inaugural season of Visionland Theme Park; “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” which has toured with Theatre Tuscaloosa’s Stage Centre program for the last 8 years and been produced by other companies all over the south; and “Wasted Times,” a domestic violence awareness play commissioned by the University of Alabama’s Women’s Center. She also created, produced and was a contributing playwright for the Kentuck 10-Minute Play Festival held at the annual Kentuck Festival of the Arts for the past five years.
Fitch’s recent acting credits include “Oliver!” at Birmingham Summerfest; “Cat On a Hot Tin Roof,” “Pippin,” and “The Grapes of Wrath” at U.A. and “A Little Night Music” for Theatre Tuscaloosa.
Prior to moving to Tuscaloosa with her husband Andy Fitch, Associate Professor of Theatre/Scenic Design at the University of Alabama, the couple lived in Dallas, Texas where she worked for a variety of organizations including Theatre Three, the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the McKinney Avenue Contemporary Arts Center and the Kitchen Dog Theater Company. She has taught at Mountain View College’s Professional Actors Musical Theatre Conservatory, Stillman College, Shelton State Community College and the University of Alabama.
She has been honored with a Druid Arts Award for excellence in theater; the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Commencement Speaker – College of Arts & Sciences, Texas A&M-Commerce; Theatre Tuscaloosa’s “Ox is in the Ditch” award and the Allen Bales Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Theater from the University of Alabama.

Theatre Tuscaloosa, one of the largest community theatres in the state, works in partnership with Shelton State Community College to provide quality theatrical experiences to the citizens of West Alabama through performances, workshops and classroom instruction. By combining the talent and resources of the non-profit theatre company with the facilities and administrative support of “Alabama’s Community College of the Fine Arts,” Theatre Tuscaloosa and Shelton State Community College have created a partnership model that has enriched the lives of countless of Alabamians.
