Shelton Ambassadors Continue a Busy Fall

Tuscaloosa – The Ambassadors at Shelton State Community College have continued their busy fall with a full schedule of events.

On October 18, 2006, the Ambassadors participated in the Fashion Fair Cosmetics “Total Makeover Madness” by participating in the fashion show sponsored by Dillard’s.

The annual trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for a weekend of team-building activities occurred October 27 through 29, 2006.  On arrival in Gatlinburg, the students divided into groups to participate in various activities designed to develop cohesiveness. Each group was assigned a part of preparing the evening meal. When analyzing their activity, they realized that in each group, a leader stood out.

Ambassador advisor Deborah Bonner said, “The Ambassadors worked successfully with their individual teams to complete their assignments and also worked to make sure that all teams worked together ensuring a good result.  They also got to know one another very well which makes working together more enjoyable.”

The Shelton State Ambassadors have also worked with the University of Alabama and Stillman College with the “Gear Up” program.  Through the program, they served as mentors and tutors at an area high school.

The Ambassadors also worked as volunteers with Theatre Tuscaloosa for the stage production of “Rumors.”  Their largest event was when they served as hosts and hostesses to the area high school counselors as they visited our campus on December 1, for the Annual Principals and Counselors Coffee.
