Tuscaloosa - Pianist Anthony Pattin will perform in recital on January 24 at 1:00 p.m. in the Alabama Power Foundation Recital Hall as part of Shelton State Community College Department of Music's Terrific Tuesday concert series.

Pattin is Professor of Music at the University of Montevallo, where he has taught since 1987. His intense enthusiasm for music and the piano began at an early age in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio, where his career was decided in high school, when he was singled out to perform as a soloist in a concerto. He subsequently earned Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Universities of Toledo and Michigan and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Alabama.

Dr. Pattin has an extensive and diverse repertoire (including over thirty concerti) and has performed in recital throughout the United States, as well as on tour in Central America. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras throughout the country, including the Alabama Symphony, the Toledo Symphony, and most recently the Arkansas Symphony. He has won numerous honors, including the coveted first place award in the International Bartók-Kabalevsky Competition (1988). His New York Debut was in April, 1998, at Carnegie Hall. A critic for New York Concert Review called Dr. Pattin, "a pianist of definite skills and strength."

Pattin's January 24 recital at Shelton State will include Intermezzo in A Major, Opus 118, No. 2 by Brahms, Haydn's Sonata in A Major, Hob. XVI: 26, a selection of Preludes from Debussy's Preludes, Book Two and Etude-Tableau in Eb Minor by Rachmaninoff.
