Shelton State Honors Excellence, Achievement and Service

 

Tuscaloosa - Shelton State Community College will recognize the successes and achievements of its students during its Honors Convocation on April 30 at 2:00 p.m.  in the Atrium of the Martin Campus at 9500 Old Greensboro Road in Tuscaloosa.

 

In addition to Excellence in Academics and Leadership awards, Academic and Career Technical Division awards, Foundation scholarships and Transfer scholarships, the College will be presenting the I. W. Mitchell Outstanding Technical Student Award, the Norman C. Cephus Special Achievement Award, the Thomas E. Umphrey Outstanding Freshman Award, the Leo Sumner Outstanding Sophomore Award, and the Harold I. James Outstanding Technical Student Award.

 

The Shelton State Alumni Association will also present the Louise Pruett Memorial Scholarship and the Alumnus of the Year Award.

 

The Dr. and Mrs. John N. Todd III Award for Exceptional Achievement in Teaching will be presented to the member of the Shelton State faculty who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments and achievements in the classroom and community. The recipient of the annual award serves as Grand Marshall and carries the College's ceremonial mace during graduation exercises.   This year awards will also be presented to outstanding support staff member, administrative staff member and teacher in the technical division.
