Holiday Season Comes to Shelton State

Tuscaloosa – A full schedule of holiday events are planned for Shelton State Community College during December 2005.

Kicking off the season will be lighting of the school Christmas tree in the Atrium of the Martin Campus at 9500 Old Greensboro Road on December 6. The 1:00 P.M. event will feature music provided by the Department of Music.

On December 9, the Department of Music will present their annual Christmas Concert combining the talents of the Shelton Singers, under the direction of Glinda Blackshear and the Shelton State Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Alan Blackshear. The concert will be presented in the Martin Campus Atrium.

Theatre Tuscaloosa contributes to the holiday season with its production of 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever' in the Bean-Brown Theatre.

Directed by Michael Carr, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is the story of a church trying to mount its traditional holiday pageant while including six over-eager children from the Herdman family—the loudest, nastiest, most inventively awful kids in the community.

Performances are scheduled for Friday, December 9 at 7:30 P.M.; Saturday, December 10 at 7:30 P.M.; Sunday, December 11 at 2:00 P.M.; Wednesday, December 14 at 2:00 P.M.; Thursday, December 15 at 7:30 P.M.; Friday, December 16 at 7:30 P.M.; Saturday, December 17 at 7:30 P.M. and Sunday, December 18 at 2:00 P.M.

Tickets for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever are $17 for adults, $14 for seniors, students and children and $5 for Shelton State students with their student I.D. card. Tickets may be purchased at the Theatre Tuscaloosa box office located in the lobby of the Bean-Brown Theatre or may be purchased by phone by calling 205/391-2277.
