TUSCALOOSA – The Shelton State Community College Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa received multiple honors at the Alabama Regional Convention held in Montgomery, February 11-13.

Lindsey Thomas, who serves as student president of Shelton State’s Alpha Epsilon Iota chapter, won the 2005 Leadership Hallmark award honoring her accomplishments.

Clair Brock, SSCC coordinator for PTK, said, “This is a very prestigious and difficult award to win. Lindsey will receive a full scholarship to the National Honors Institute to be held this summer at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.”

Thomas was also awarded the Order of the Golden Key as chapter president and on behalf of the members of Alpha Epsilon Iota, accepted the a bronze Pinnacle Award and the Five Star Award, the highest level a chapter can reach with PTK International.

“Five Star Awards signify that a chapter has reached the highest standards and participation in PTK,” said Brock. “The Pinnacle Award indicates an increase in membership over the previous year.”

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students.
