GRADUATION SET FOR ADULT EDUCATION CONSORTIUM

Tuscaloosa – The Shelton State Adult Education Consortium has scheduled its graduation ceremony for Saturday, May 8 at 2:00 P.M. in the Umphrey Center on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College at 9500 Old Greensboro Road in Tuscaloosa.

Founded in 2002, the Shelton State Adult Education Consortium combined the work of the Bibb, Greene, Hale and Sumter county school systems with Tuscaloosa City and County School Systems as well as Bryce Hospital to provide educational services in preparation for the General Education Development (GED) exam.

Judge William A. (Sonny) Ryan will be the speaker at the event. Ryan, a district judge from Hale County, has been active in numerous educational causes including the HERO Family Resource Center based in Greensboro, Alabama. He also served on the Governor’s Commission on Education Spending.

Dr. Fran Turner, who coordinates the Adult Education Consortium for Shelton State said, “The Consortium’s seven member agencies offers classes at nearly 50 locations throughout West Alabama. We expect to award over 100 diplomas on May 8.”
