Shelton State Community College to Open Cy-Bucs Computer Café

Shelton State Community College will open its Cy-Bucs computer café on March 15, with 12 computer workstations and a laser printer in a café setting with tables and booths.  Shelton State’s new wireless network serves students and faculty who have their own laptop computers and appropriate network cards and those who wish to use college PCs.  Chef Neil Ravenna of the college’s culinary arts program is developing a menu of snacks and specialty coffees and beverages that will be for sale in Cy-Bucs.

Student John Abernathy, who entered a contest held by Shelton State in fall 2003, named Cy-Bucs.  Other student and faculty input came through the design of the Cy-Bucs logo by Paul Sellers of the MIS Department, and an aluminum sign created by instructor Ronnie Guy and Josh Wilkins and Jamie Lindsey, student in the Machine Shop classes.  Cy-Bucs is in Room 2413 on the Martin Campus.  Hours are 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m.-noon on Friday.
