SHELTON STATE BIDS FAREWELL TO DEAN HUMPHREY LEE

Tuscaloosa – Dean Humphrey Lee, who was recently appointed president of Northwest-Shoals Community College, will be honored by his colleagues at Shelton State at a reception on Monday, April 26 at 9:30 A.M. in the Wilson-Carr Rehearsal Hall.

Before being named president, Lee was dean of students at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa since 1979. In 2003, he was honored as the Outstanding Student Services Officer of the Year during the 2003 Chancellor’s Awards. He was also awarded the Chancellor’s Outstanding Administrator Award in 2000. During his tenure at Shelton State Community College, Lee has served as president, vice president and treasurer/secretary of the Deans of Students Association. He also has served on the board of directors for the Shelton State Community College Foundation.

“All of us at Shelton State are going to miss Humphrey enormously,” said Rick Rogers, Shelton State President. “His commitment to this school and its students has been an inspiration to us all.”

Lee earned his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in psychology, a master’s degree in counseling and guidance, and a doctorate in administration and higher education from the University of Alabama. He is married to the former Nora Hubbard. They have two sons, Preston and Spencer.
