Congressman Bachus to Speak to Students at Shelton State

Tuscaloosa - Congressman Spencer Bachus, representing Alabama’s 6th Congressional District, will speak to students at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa on Monday, April 26 at 10:00 A.M.

“We are delighted to welcome Congressman Bachus to our campus,” said school president Rick Rogers.  “This is a rare and wonderful opportunity to our students to hear directly from their congressional representative.”

Bachus will speak to a gathering that includes history and economics classes on current events in Washington, D.C.

Bachus, elected to Congress in November 1992, serves on three influential committees. He is a senior member of the Financial Services Committee and serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit.  The subcommittee has jurisdiction over banks, credit unions, thrifts and the federal agencies that regulate them, including the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Treasury and the Comptroller of the Currency. He also serves on the Transportation Committee and the Judiciary Committee.

A native of Birmingham, Congressman Bachus graduated from Auburn University and the University of Alabama's Law School.
