Shelton state sets first fall commencement ceremony: Congressman Artur Davis to speak

(Tuscaloosa) – Shelton State Community College has scheduled its first fall commencement ceremony for Monday, December 15 at 6:30 P.M. in the atrium of the Martin Campus at 9500 Old Greensboro Road in Tuscaloosa.

Dean of Students Humphrey Lee said, “This ceremony is an opportunity for students who complete requirements in the summer and fall to participate in commencement before they get too involved in the world of work or their transfer institution”

Speaker for the commencement ceremony will be Congressman Artur Davis. Congressman Davis, representing Alabama’s 7th Congressional District, serves on the Financial Services Committee, with seats on the Housing and Community Opportunities and Financial Institutions subcommittees. Davis also serves on the Budget Committee, which sets the annual blueprint for government spending practices. Born in 1967 in Montgomery, Alabama, Davis graduated Magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1990 and cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1993.

Shelton State President Rick Rogers said, “We are delighted to have Congressman Davis as our special guest at our fall commencement ceremony. His support of education and economic development programs in the 7th Congressional District and our service area makes him the perfect speaker for this event.”
