Past Presidents of C.A. Fredd State Technical College to be Honored
Three past presidents of C.A. Fredd State Technical College will be recognized during the 2002 Honors Day ceremonies at Shelton State Community College. The college has established three awards for students on the C.A. Fredd Campus in the names of Norman Cephus, I.W. Mitchell, and the late C.A. Fredd.
Recipients of the awards will be recognized at the ceremony on the C.A. Fredd Campus at 10 a.m. on May 3 and again on the Martin Campus at 6:30 p.m. on May 7. Award recipients will be selected through recommendations of the instructors on the Fredd Campus.
The Chester A. Fredd Sr. Incoming Freshman Scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in a technical program on the Fredd Campus. The recipient must be a high school graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. The scholarship is also based on community service, school service, instructor recommendation and a student essay.
The Norman Cephus Special Achievement Award and the I.W. Mitchell Outstanding Technical Student Award will be given to students enrolled in one of the technical programs on the Fredd Campus. To be eligible for both awards, students must have completed at least 12 semester hours with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above in college work. Selection is also based on community service, school service, technical recognition, and job-related activities along with work and family responsibilities.
