Quimby Selected as Statewide Technical Faculty of the Year

Tuscaloosa - At their annual conference held November 18-20 in Birmingham, the Alabama College Association presented the 2007 Chancellor’s Awards.

Statewide winner of the 2007 Technical Faculty of the Year was Mr. William Quimby, Electrical Technology Instructor at Shelton State Community College.

Quimby, who received diplomas from Shelton State in 1968 and 1981, is a licensed Master Level Electrician as well as an Industrial Electrician. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Athens State College. In addition to teaching, Quimby places particular emphasis on the development of apprenticeship programs and job placement for his students. He is a consultant for Technical Education for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and has published articles in their national journal. He has consulted on restoration projects in Tuscaloosa and Northport and has been honored by Habitat for Humanity for his service.

Other Shelton State Community College employees recognized as members of the Class of 2007 Chancellor’s Awards were: Andrea Parker (support staff), Carolyn Edwards (administration) and Darrell Wright (academic faculty).
