Spring Theatre Workshops Offered

 

Tuscaloosa – Theatre Tuscaloosa and Shelton State Community College’s Community Education Program are offering a series of Spring Theatre Workshops conducted by Theatre Tuscaloosa’s new Executive Producer, Tina Fitch.

            Each one-day workshop has a registration fee of $5.00 per student.  The workshop schedule includes:

“Excavating Your Creative Spirit” (Saturday, February 24th, 1-5 P.M.) Every person has a creative spirit, but often we allow the practical demands of our lives to bury our hidden desires and talents.  Using the tools of Julia Cameron’s book “The Artist’s Way,” this workshop will explore how to tap in to your creative potential.  Ages 17 and older.

“Fundamentals of Acting” - For Adults (Saturday, April 21st, 9 A.M. - Noon) So you’ve always wanted to act but didn’t quite know how, well here’s your chance to learn! This workshop will explore basic acting techniques as they apply to the rehearsal process.  Ages 19 and older.

“Fundamentals of Acting” - For Teens (Saturday, April 21st, 1- 5 P.M.) Ages 13 to 18.

“How to Audition” (Sunday, May 6th, 1-5 P.M.) This workshop focuses on the fundamentals of auditioning for plays and/or musicals.  Topics discussed are:  knowing your type, headshots and resumes, finding the right monologue, choosing the right song, cold readings, movement, and presence.  Ages 14 and older.

“Voice and Movement for Actors” (Saturday, May 19th, 1-5 P.M.)  This workshop is for people who have experience in acting and want a deeper understanding of the mind, body, voice connection in exploring a character.  Ages 16 and older.
