Thomas Alfred Sheldon was the son of Thomas Sheldon and Elizabeth Margaretha Sheldon nee de Vaal

In 1918, Thomas was awarded an M.B.E. "for valuable services rendered within the Union of South Africa in connection with the campaigns in German
