Blue & Gold

Blue and gold banquets are a tradition within packs, celebrating the leaders and parents who make Cub Scouting fantastic. Each year there is a new theme and special events that are scheduled.

Akela & Scout Cake Contest (see below)

This contest is for cakes made by Scouts and their parents. This is totally voluntary and not required to be done. The cakes will be cut up and served during the event.

The theme of your cake can be whatever you choose but the 7 award categories are:

  • Best Blue and Gold Theme - Olympics
  • Best Scouting Theme
  • Most Patriotic
  • Most Colorful
  • Best Use of Frosting
  • Scout Favorite (wins based on most votes)


Rules:

  1. Cakes must be home baked and decorated
  2. Cakes are judged by appearance, but must be edible
  3. Cakes are judged by a committee and must be on site no later than 2 PM.
  4. Two non-edible decorations permitted per cake

  • 1:30 Parents help set up
  • 1:45 Deliver cakes for Akela and Scout Cake contest
  • 1:55 Scouts line up for Opening Ceremony
  • 2:00 Opening Ceremony
    • Light flame
    • Scouts enter room
    • Pledge of Allegiance
    • Scout Oath
    • Pack Announcements
    • Friends of Scouting presentation - Special Guest from Council comes to speak
  • 2:25 Scouts vote on favorite cake
  • 2:30 Olympic events
    • Scouts rotate through stations where they will make something or play a game while learning about the Olympics
    • Scouts and parents will also take a break to enjoy snacks and cake
  • 4:50 Closing Ceremony
    • Akela and Scout Cake winners presented
    • Pinewood Derby winners presented
    • Extinguish flame
  • 5:00 Clean Up (All volunteers welcome)
