In ancient Rome a collegium was a club or society, a group of persons living together, under a common set of rules (con- = "together" + leg- = "law" or lego = "I choose"). The word university is derived from the Latin universitas magistrorum et scholarium, roughly meaning "community of teachers and scholars." An important idea in the definition of a university is the notion of 'academic freedom' as declared Internationally in the Magna Charta Universitatum.

While SCOD is an informal Academy and is Un-Accredited with no license for degrees, the student will be as ready to go to work and earn a living in their chosen alternative field, as any slave of the system. Special thanks to SCOD associate Dr. Greg Sadler of ReasonIO for foundation advice.
Each Graduate Semester students can further develop their own Educational Honors.
