Manager – Design & Process Engineering
The company is engaged in the Design and Manufacture of Outdoor, Indoor, Hazardous and decorative lighting fixtures. As HEAD of the Department, my responsibilities were as under.
· Responsible for both administrative and technical activities of design section.
· Oversee the design quality planning, manage & coordinate the work among design work groups.
· Determine personnel requirements, train staff to perform their responsibilities, and build team work concept and staff motivation in the section.
· Perform continuous design reviews and improvement in existing products.
· Perform design verification and validation for the new products, to ensure conformity to specifications and fitness for use.
· Evaluate new products in accordance with design specification in coordination with Purchase and Quality Assurance Departments.
· Train staff to take up high responsibilities, build team sprit and motivation in the section.
· Monitor design records, particularly drawings and references, ensuring that latest issues are issued to requesters whenever needed.
· Ensure to finish the design tasks within the stipulated time frames in cooperation with concerned departments, e.g. Sales Services, Production, Quality Assurance, etc.
· Plan and establish the economical process of production, defining the machines and operational sequence to produce the required product.
· Establish and define the manner and method of production, specifying instructions on how to produce the product, and ensure that the same is implemented in the shop floor.
· Ensure that existing machines, equipment and tools are capable to produce the product design, and that production are equipped with the required tooling, jigs, fixtures and machine programs (CNC) to produce the specified product at the right quality.
· Review and recommend new tools for production use, sourcing and evaluating supplier quotations, subject to the approval of the Manufacturing Manager.
· Ensure that any requirements for establishing and/or verifying time standards to properly define the operation cycle are coordinated with the Industrial Engineering Section.
