Hello Parents and Students,
Welcome to what I hope will be an amazing year in math! I have a lot of things in store for you all. We will have some amazing projects and experiments so it won't be your normal math class. You will be expected to think, learn, ask questions, and drive your own learning. The syllabi are listed below as well as on the navigation bars on the top and left side of the page.
I look forward to working together for a great year!
A Little About Me...
I grew up in the Los Angeles area after my family and I immigrated to the United states from the Philippines. I have three brothers, and one sister. After I graduated high school, I attended Cal Poly and began my career with a Mechanical Engineering degree, before changing and finishing with a Pure Mathematics Bachelors degree. In addition, I was also fortunate enough to publish SAT materials in mathematics that were used in several private schools. After my Bachelor's degree I completed my Single Subject Credential at San Diego State University and graduated with my Master's degree in Educational Technology (EdTec) at the end of this school year. In between my degrees I did find time marry my wife and best friend Linda. I now serve as a District Trainer in our Edtec Department and work with various schools/companies consulting. Finally, I also am an Adjunct Faculty at the University of San Diego (USD).
As a teacher, I expect as much out of my students as I expect out of myself, which is a lot! I don't teach to the test, but rather have my students find their own learning by emphasizing the concept and its applications rather than the idea of just rote memorization. I have also worked with some colleagues to increase engagement and learning by incorporating the idea of "flipping the classroom" this year.
