AGM/Christmas Dinner – November 25, 2023

The weather cooperated, and we had a great attendance and a short but sweet AGM. Welcome to Paul Feddema who has joined the Leadership Team as a floater willing to help where needed. Thanks again to the Legion for a delicious turkey dinner followed by music and dancing. This made a great AGM and Christmas Dinner.

September BBQ – September 14, 2023 

With the rising cost of steaks, we had a “BEEF” change for this BBQ. From the feedback we have received so far, the change was well received. We had a special message on our cakes to celebrate our 40th year. SAIT’s ALIVE was established in 1983. 100 enjoyed the BBQ at the Triwood Community Centre.  What a wonderful day to visit with friends and meet other members. The Leadership Team thanks all who attended and to those who volunteered to make this a successful event.

June BBQ – June 14, 2023

109 members and friends enjoyed our famous BBQ with all the trimmings at the Triwood Community Centre. What a wonderful day to visit with friends and meet other members and of course it was raining. The Leadership Team thanks all who attended and to those who volunteered to make this a successful event.   

Spring Luncheon - March 16, 2023

83 members and friends enjoyed a variety of fresh bunwiches, homemade soup and delicious dessert at our March Luncheon prepared by the Chapelhow Legion.  What a wonderful day to visit with friends and meet other members. The Leadership Team thanks all who attended and to those who volunteered to make this a successful event.

AGM and Christmas Party - November 26, 2022

Over 110 members attended our first in-person Annual General Meeting since 2019. Everyone then enjoyed a traditional Christmas turkey dinner. The catering staff again did a great job and all attending had a great evening of fellowship.

September BBQ – September 15, 2022

115 members enjoyed our traditional BBQ menu at the Triwood Community Centre. A huge thank you to Olga and the Catering Staff at Triwood for the great service and meal. Members appreciated the opportunity to get together and visit with each other. Thank you to everyone who attended and to the organizers. Special thanks to our volunteers.

June BBQ – June 15, 2022 

For the first time in two years, 132 members enjoyed the Welcome Back June BBQ at the Triwood Community Centre. Yes, a BBQ with tablecloths and not having to worry about the weather or to bring anything except yourselves and have time for a coffee and visit before dinner! A huge thank you to Stacey and the Catering Staff at Triwood for providing our members with their favourite BBQ foods – steak,  potatoes, Caesar Salad, garlic toast, baked beans and all the condiments. We still love cake as a dessert. It was a great WELCOME BACK BBQ. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped put it together. Thanks to our volunteers.

Spring Luncheon - April 7, 2022

For the first time in two years, 130 members confirmed their attendance and welcomed the opportunity to gather at the Chapelhow Legion. We enjoyed a choice of soup, a variety of bunwiches and cake. It was great seeing and catching up with each other. A huge thank you to Heather and her staff for serving our food so we didn't have to handle it. Since we are still in pandemic mode, there were a few members who were unable to attend due to illness and medical issues. We hope they will be able to come to the BBQ in June. It was a great WELCOME BACK Luncheon.

AGM and Christmas Party - Saturday, November 30, 2019

Members present at the AGM decided to continue to operate under a leadership team which provides up to four catered social functions per year, with a review of this approach to be taken at 2020 AGM. No changes to the current Leadership Team.

Thanks for attending. It was a great evening with fellowship and fun for all. 166 attendees enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner, entertainment and dancing. The Harmonaires provided the music.

BBQ September 18, 2019

What a great turnout – 146 enjoyed the BBQ with all the trimmings. Thanks for attending and enjoying the time with colleagues and friends.

Spring BBQ June 13, 2019

One hundred and sixty-five members and guests attended our Summer BBQ on June 13, 2019 at the Triwood Community Centre. It was a great feast with the most ever attending a BBQ. Many thanks to all who helped make it a success.

Spring Luncheon – March 13, 2019

Our Luncheon (St. Paddy’s theme) was very well attended by 96 members, spouses and friends. Compliments to the Event Staff at the Chapelhow Legion – delicious bunwiches, soup, veggies, dessert, coffee and tea - great service and so accommodating. Thank you for attending and help make this an enjoyable event – even the weather cooperated. Special thanks to our volunteers who helped with phoning, set-up and clean-up. We enjoyed music selections by Ron Marier, one of our SAIT’s ALIVE members.

Birthday wishes to Clarence Hollingworth, who turned 104 on March 3, 2019. Clarence retired in 1980 as an instructor in the Electrical Department. He is a SAIT Alumnus, also. SAIT’s ALIVE Coffee Group and SAIT honoured Clarence at Birthday celebrations.

This was a great evening with fellowship and fun for all. The 145 attendees decided to continue the informal operating structure providing up to four catered social functions per year for the coming year.

Fall BBQ – Tuesday, September 18, 2018

Our second Catered BBQ was very well attended with 157 attendees.  Believe it or not, this is the same number that attended the first Catered BBQ. Such a fantastic turnout for both BBQ’s. Many newcomers joined us at both events. We hope everyone enjoyed the day. If there are any issues with food etc., please let one of the Team know your concerns. Compliments to Chef Gerd and staff at Triwood. To all who helped put this event together – our thanks.

Spring BBQ - Wednesday June 13, 2018

Our first Catered BBQ was very well attended with 156 attendees.  This is an increase of 36 from last year’s Fall BBQ. WOW!!! There were many newcomers to the BBQ and we hope all enjoyed the day. Compliments to the caterers at Triwood for keeping us in the style we have been accustomed to!!!  Thank you to all who helped put this event together.  

Spring Luncheon – March 14, 2018

A lovely day (no snow or rain) for our Spring Luncheon as 78 members, spouses and friends gathered at the Chapelhow Legion for a wonderful luncheon buffet. Compliments to the Food Services Staff at the Chaplehow Legion – delicious food and great service.  We enjoyed music selections and jokes by Russ. Thank you to those who helped make this a memorable event. A great time was had by all.

Annual General Meeting and Christmas Dinner

The SAIT’s ALIVE Annual General Meeting and Christmas Dinner on Saturday, November 18, 2017 was very well attended. A significant change was made to our operational mode at this meeting. We will operate for 2018 under the leadership of a Coordinating Team focused on providing the four social functions noted above. Team members selected at the AGM are Moe Sinotte, Jan Leinweber, Marilynn Sander, Sheila Pfeiffer and Tom Skinner. Contact information is available on the Leadership page.
