SPRING BBQ – June 11, 2025
A beautiful day for us to say goodbye to Winter and welcome Spring at our annual spring BBQ. Thank you to those who were able to attend. Because of escalating cost of beef, we changed our traditional Roast Beef Sirloin menu to Pulled Pork on a bun with an alternative choice of a Beef Burger or a Vegetarian Burger. Thanks for all the great comments. We are now working with Triwood Catering on the Fall BBQ Menu and hope you enjoy it too. Comments are always welcome and appreciated. Also, thanks to those who attended and found the alternate path to our room. Triwood had expected the renovations to be completed before our function so did not give us a heads-up of a possible detour. Enjoy your Summer. Hope to see you at our Fall BBQ.
SPRING LUNCHEON – April 3, 2025
A beautiful day for us to say goodbye to Winter and welcome Spring at our annual spring luncheon. Thank you, Mother Nature. Seventy-five friends enjoyed visiting with each other and dining on gourmet bunwiches, soup plus delicious desserts. Thanks to the Chapelhow Legion for introducing us to a new Italian soup and a Pumpkin cake along with our usual choices. What a great job looking after us.
AGM/Christmas Dinner – November 30, 2024
Another great attendance for the AGM and Christmas Dinner. Congratulations to Paul Feddema our NEW Coordinator. Thank you, Moe Sinotte, for being our Coordinator the past few years. We will still see you and Elaine at our events. Thanks to Norm Landymore for looking after the Scholarship Fund draw for so many years and for mentoring your successor, Cathy Hobday. The Leadership Team is looking forward to another fun year of socializing with our friends. Thanks again to the Legion for our delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings and to Ron French and the Band Angels for the great entertainment.
Fall BBQ – September 12, 2024 was another wonderful day for eighty-eight that attended the BBQ. We hope all the food concerns from past BBQ’s were addressed. Feedback received called it was the “Best One Ever.” We are glad to report that our cakes are still a big hit. Everyone enjoyed this opportunity to get together with their SAIT friends. We appreciate your feedback – good or bad. Please keep your comments coming.
Spring BBQ – June 12, 2024 was a wonderful day for our BBQ. 90 members enjoyed visiting each other and did their best to taste all the good food prepared by the Triwood Caterers. Believe it or not, all still had room for our delicious cakes. Thanks to our volunteers and our phone committee. See you in September. Jan is meeting with the caterers about some food issues.
Spring Luncheon – rescheduled to April 4, 2024. Initially March 21st was our chosen date, but Mother Nature and a storm warning provided a lot of extra moisture not helping our driving habits, so the Luncheon was postponed to April 4th and guess what! Yes, Mother Nature provided more moisture, but we made it happen. There were an additional ten people able to attend – 75 brave retirees and friends. Thank you, Paul for stepping in for our Leader as Moe and Elaine were away. Thanks again to the Legion for providing the delicious soup, bunwiches, and excellent dessert for our Luncheon. Everyone appreciated the opportunity to get together again.
AGM/Christmas Dinner – November 25, 2023
The weather cooperated, and we had a great attendance and a short but sweet AGM. Welcome to Paul Feddema who has joined the Leadership Team as a floater willing to help where needed. Thanks again to the Legion for a delicious turkey dinner followed by music and dancing. This made a great AGM and Christmas Dinner.
September BBQ – September 14, 2023
With the rising cost of steaks, we had a “BEEF” change for this BBQ. From the feedback we have received so far, the change was well received. We had a special message on our cakes to celebrate our 40th year. SAIT’s ALIVE was established in 1983. 100 enjoyed the BBQ at the Triwood Community Centre. What a wonderful day to visit with friends and meet other members. The Leadership Team thanks all who attended and to those who volunteered to make this a successful event.
June BBQ – June 14, 2023
109 members and friends enjoyed our famous BBQ with all the trimmings at the Triwood Community Centre. What a wonderful day to visit with friends and meet other members and of course it was raining. The Leadership Team thanks all who attended and to those who volunteered to make this a successful event.
Spring Luncheon - March 16, 2023
83 members and friends enjoyed a variety of fresh bunwiches, homemade soup and delicious dessert at our March Luncheon prepared by the Chapelhow Legion. What a wonderful day to visit with friends and meet other members. The Leadership Team thanks all who attended and to those who volunteered to make this a successful event.
AGM and Christmas Party - November 26, 2022
Over 110 members attended our first in-person Annual General Meeting since 2019. Everyone then enjoyed a traditional Christmas turkey dinner. The catering staff again did a great job and all attending had a great evening of fellowship.
September BBQ – September 15, 2022
115 members enjoyed our traditional BBQ menu at the Triwood Community Centre. A huge thank you to Olga and the Catering Staff at Triwood for the great service and meal. Members appreciated the opportunity to get together and visit with each other. Thank you to everyone who attended and to the organizers. Special thanks to our volunteers.
June BBQ – June 15, 2022
For the first time in two years, 132 members enjoyed the Welcome Back June BBQ at the Triwood Community Centre. Yes, a BBQ with tablecloths and not having to worry about the weather or to bring anything except yourselves and have time for a coffee and visit before dinner! A huge thank you to Stacey and the Catering Staff at Triwood for providing our members with their favourite BBQ foods – steak, potatoes, Caesar Salad, garlic toast, baked beans and all the condiments. We still love cake as a dessert. It was a great WELCOME BACK BBQ. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped put it together. Thanks to our volunteers.
Spring Luncheon - April 7, 2022
For the first time in two years, 130 members confirmed their attendance and welcomed the opportunity to gather at the Chapelhow Legion. We enjoyed a choice of soup, a variety of bunwiches and cake. It was great seeing and catching up with each other. A huge thank you to Heather and her staff for serving our food so we didn't have to handle it. Since we are still in pandemic mode, there were a few members who were unable to attend due to illness and medical issues. We hope they will be able to come to the BBQ in June. It was a great WELCOME BACK Luncheon.
