Music Appreciation

Music Appreciation is open to all students of SMHS. In this course you will learn:

• the use and value of music in people’s lives;

• to respond emotionally and intelligently to a wide range of music;

• to understand the social uses of music and to value music accordingly;

• to recognize music as an important marker of its time an culture;

• to develop knowledge and understanding of, and respect for, human musical achievements;

• and to acquire an overview of why music is an essential ingredient of all human cultures.
