4-8-2 TYPE MOUNTAIN
The Rutland purchased four 4-8-2 locomotives from ALCO - Schenectady in 1946 classified L-1 and numbered 90-93. They had 26x30 inch cylinders and 73 inch drivers. They were the last steam engines on the Rutland and were among the last built in the USA. They were stored when the Rutland was dieselized by early 1953 but were not used again and were scrapped in March 1955.
