Photography has been part of my life since I was given my first camera in fifth grade and snapshots were the rule. During high school in the 1970's, following my brother's usual lead, my first SLR camera was purchased (with a LOT of help from my dad); a Minolta SRT 101 that still works well today. However, it wasn't until a tour of Iraq that I started thinking of photography as anything beyond a means of documenting my experiences and interests. In this visually limited environment of stone, sand and concrete, composition took precedence over subject matter. Still, when my wife and I travel, we enjoy being a 'tourists' with the camera!

"Bedtime"

Our "hooches" were getting new beds, this interesting and
unlikely composition was somewhat fun in an odd sort of way.
It was a bit of a visual drop of the pants in which something
that is normally private was being displayed in public.
