Using Porter's competitive model i believe that Mp3 players are an industry that will fail and is ripe for disruption. The reason why i believe that Mp3 players will be out of business is because there is an mp3 player on every smartphone. The downside of having a Mp3 player is because you have to hook it up to a computer in order to transfer music. However, with smart phones nowadays, you can buy music straight from the I tunes or the Google Play store, and it goes right to your music storage. Moreover, you can also download songs from the internet and they will appear on your Mp3 player. Therefore, since smart phones have been on an incredible increase in sales, it will put all mp3 sales in jeopardy. You rarely see people going out of their way to purchase Mp3 players, however you see people all the time looking to buy the latest small phones.
