RES Annual Conference 2020 cancelled – 2021 conference to be held at Queen’s University, Belfast
10 Mar 2020
Following the COVID-19 outbreak, the Royal Economic Society has reluctantly cancelled its Annual Conference that was due to be held at Queen’s University Belfast from 6-8 April 2020. The decision follows constant monitoring of the situation by RES officers and staff and takes into account the latest available information.
However, we are delighted to announce that the 2021 annual conference will be held at Queen’s University, Belfast.
RES President Prof Rachel Griffith said “We are very sad that this year’s conference has had to be cancelled. We were looking forward to some fantastic keynotes and some great research being presented. I am particularly sorry that our women’s mentoring session and our PhD symposium will not be held. I would like to thank the RES conference committee, the programme committee chaired by Prof Mirko Draca and all those involved at Queen’s including the local organiser Dr Renee Prendergast who, along with RES staff, have put in a huge amount of work.”
Head of Queen’s Management School Prof Nola Hewitt-Dundas said “We are disappointed not to host the Royal Economic Society’s 2020 conference, but greatly look forward to welcoming the RES back in 2021.”
The RES Annual General Meeting has been postponed and will be rescheduled.
The Royal Economic Society is pleased to announce its 6th Symposium of Junior Researchers, which will take place on 9th April, 2020 at Queen's University Belfast.
With the support of the Royal Economic Society, the event is organised by research students for research students. Its objectives are to bring together students to foster discussion and dissemination of research in all areas of economics. The Symposium takes place following the Annual Conference of the RES.
It is our hope to bring together a larger group of researchers than only the presenters, and attendance (up to full capacity) is encouraged for all who are interested, even those who do not present. The format includes parallel presentation sessions in which young economists will have the opportunity to discuss and disseminate their research. Each presenter will be a discussant for another paper in the same presentation session.
