Spring 2023 East Georgia State Student Evaluations SB (Literature as Argument)
"This was the best English class I have taken in a while. English is not my favorite but she made the course easy and really helped me and was a very fair and honest teacher. She gave very in-depth feedback on every essay about how to elevate my paper to an A."

"The professor is easygoing and professional. She is very nice; her teaching skills and down-to-earth personality make the classes 10 xs better. This course was very well organized. Everything was set up very well in D2L. I could always look ahead to see what we were doing in class the upcoming week. The course was very informative and well-organized. I learned a lot of new information throughout the course and reviewed lots of fundamental English building blocks. She gave me specific things to work on and gave good examples of what to do to improve my writing. I used the feedback to the best of my knowledge to revise my previous work. This course developed any and all skills such as people skills, reading, writing, comprehension, etc. The professor made the class enjoyable and thought-provoking. I learned about a lot of important issues that are in today's world. I learned a lot about literature to today's modern issues and gained a lot of knowledge. I learned how to critically think and use it in my day-to-day life. I feel that the skills we have learned in this class have increased my social skills and have helped me speak more freely without fear of being criticized."

Fall 2018 East Georgia State College Student Evaluations SC and SH (Literature as Argument)
"This has been one of my most favorite courses taken at EGSC. Dr. Denton has been extremely helpful and accountable as an instructor. She gave feedback to me regarding assignments and allowed for revisions and growth."
Spring 2017 East Georgia State College Student Evaluations SC and SH (Literature as Argument)
"Dr. Denton used a non-biased perspective while discussing in depth the meaning of the stories. However, instead of just listening to her lecture, she actually let us discuss our thoughts and ideas which made what she did talk about easier to remember. The fact that we had to critically analyze and give our personal analysis of the material covered was very useful and broadened my horizons in terms of race, gender, and the oppression faced by each of the stories we were assigned. The class ultimately empowered me to gain empathy for African Americans and women; in addition to giving me a greater understanding of the oppression each face. This understanding will provide great benefits in pursuing my undergrad degree."
Fall 2016 East Georgia State College Student Evaluations SC and SH (Literature as Argument)
"She focuses a lot on critical thinking and how to get the individual's thoughts properly formatted in the writing. She accomplished this by asking questions and opening them up to the class to discuss openly. This allowed for a free-flowing thought process. She goes out of her way to explain how we can improve our writing."
"This course helped open my eyes to a lot of social issues, and in return pushed me to think more in-depth about important current issues."
Fall 2016 East Georgia State College Student Response to Poetry Explication Section SC (Literature as Argument)
"This assignment opened my eyes to the struggles that African Americans still have to go through today and gives me a motive to help do something about it."
Spring 2016 East Georgia State College Student Evaluations Sections SE and SF (Literature as Argument)
"I like how Dr. Denton broke down any story, poem, or reading that we had to do in class. The discussion boards allowed us to express our feelings and talk about the story with each other. This also developed our writing skills."
"Dr. Denton is and will always be my favorite professor. She has affected my life in such a positive way because of her and her class I know that I am prepared not only for my other classes but for my future! I would recommend anyone to take her class. She is by far the best and is ALWAYS willing to help!"
"Her best teaching technique is the way she has us interact with other students and use the board to learn. For example, having us write out our thesis statements on the board for feedback was very helpful."
"This course really makes students open their eyes to the real problems in the world. This course makes students aware and teaches us how we can use literature to make the world more aware. Thanks to this class, I'm hoping to become an author that speaks out on real-world issues."
Spring 2015 East Georgia State College Student Evaluations Sections SF and SG (Literature as Argument)
"She does a great job relating the lesson to our lives. She is extremely good at making sure people of all races get to voice their opinion of whatever the subject might be. She knows how hard it is for us to be growing up during this time when race is becoming an issue again, and she does a really good job at making sure everyone has a voice."
"Dr. Denton's feedback is amazing; she helps you work through the problems you have."
Fall 2014 East Georgia State College Student Evaluations Section SH and SI (Literature as Argument)
