I've been attending SAMLA since 2011. It's a great conference that offers many opportunities, including the time to catch up with my University of Memphis cohorts. SAMLA has been good to me, so serving the association has provided ways for me to give back.
Faculty from three campuses met twice to discuss ideas for our QEP topic.
The presentation discussed how A Lesson before Dying dramatizes African American cultural memory and traumas, and, thus, presents the opportunity for readers to have a transformative experience---even as they recognize racism’s overreaching grasp on today’s society, especially our justice system.
