The eLab is a learning environment. In consideration of others, please adhere to the following guidelines:
Conversation about course work is permitted, but please keep voices low.
Personal conversation should be taken to the hallway, cafeteria or outside.
Utilize the Exam in Progress or Do Not Disturb signs as necessary.
Write your name on the board if you need extra quiet time to concentrate and would prefer not to be disturbed.
Please ask any friends or family who may stop by to wait for you in the hallway; the eLab classrooms are strictly reserved for use by eLab students only.
If you need a quiet space to work, please speak to staff or utilize one of the many quiet spaces on campus, such as the library.
Please remember to turn your cell phone off or to vibrate, and take any phone conversations to the hallway.
The eLab classrooms and offices are scent free zones. Please respect those with sensitivities by refraining from using colognes, perfumes and heavily scented laundry or personal care products.
Room
If you are the last to leave, ensure the door is locked and lights and fans are turned off. Even if you are leaving for a quick break, shut the door and staff or security are more than happy to let you back in.
Loyalist College Student Cards
Student cards are available to eLab students for a fee.
This card is similar to the post secondary student card and qualifies for most retail discounts that post secondary students have. It does not allow you to attend College pubs. If you would like to get a Loyalist College Student Card please let elab@loyalistcollege.com know as soon as possible.
Funding and Student Account Payments
With proof of sponsorship, funded students may receive credit for tuition, fees and textbooks up to three weeks from the beginning of their courses. All tuition, fees and charges for textbooks are due after the three week timeline. Payments to your student account can be done by mail or through direct deposit. Please contact elab@loyalistcollege.com if you have any questions regarding payments or your student account. You can check your current balance online through Banner (see instructions on page 13).
Textbooks
A book list will be sent to you before each semester to help you purchase the correct textbooks for your courses and to confirm what course you will be registered in. If there are any anomalies please bring them to the attention of eLab staff immediately before registration occurs. Once you have received your textbook funding, you may continue to purchase textbooks on your own through www.efollett.com or deposit your additional funds to your student account and we can make arrangements to have your textbooks shipped to you. You will be responsible for any additional/increased book costs such as shipping.
Testing and Exams
All onsite proctored/invigilated exams will be booked and hosted by the eLab staff during the required completion period. Booking takes place approximately 3 weeks before exams. If you have not heard from a staff member and wish to book your exam please contact elab@loyalistcollege.com. Any students taking courses that are monthly intake will have exams booked through elab@loyalistcollege.com and be written at the testing centre.
Any students needing proctored midterms will need to provide the completion date to the eLab staff before booking.
Note: It is the students’ responsibility to ensure that all course requirements are met, including exams.
