"The body always expresses the spirit whose
envelope it is. And for him who can see,
the nude offers the richest meaning." AUGUSTE RODIN (1840-1917)
FIGURE DRAWING WORKSHOP The representation of the figure is central to sacred art. This workshop is a week-long, intensive figure drawing course for artist at every stage of learning. The class will focus on imparting to the student an understanding of the basic structure and proportions of the human body as well as knowledge of the way light reveals its form. Every day students will draw in direct observation from the model in three hours sessions both morning and afternoon. Methods of sighting and historical drawing techniques in a number of different media ranging from pencil to conte, chalk and charcoal on varied papers will be taught. During the course of the week we will also have slide-shows and discussions about drawing through the ages. Savannah's rich natural setting and architectural heritage will provide a rich backdrop to the workshops
Time will also be spent visiting the Cathedral and exploring the city. While each participant who is traveling from out of town will have the opportunity to find their own accommodations, we are happy to help or recommend a place suited to your needs and budget.
