THANJAVUR/VELLORE Jan 20, 2020, 09:51 IST: At least 14 idols, worth several lakhs of rupees, were stolen from two temples in Tamil Nadu, raising questions yet again about safety provided for centuries-old shrines and the thriving idol smuggling market.
Among the idols stolen, 13 were from a temple maintained by the Jain community near Thanjavur. One 3¼ panchaloha idol was stolen from a 90-year-old Krishna temple near Arcot in Ranipet district. Both thefts took place in the early hours of Sunday. Read More ...
