The planned start of the 2013 Queens Windball Cricket Tournament had to pushed back as a result of the inclement weather yesterday. Rather than risk injury due to wet surfaces or abandon games and share points, the committee made a one time decision to cancel all games and re-schedule the start of the 2013 season to June 2, 2013. Note that any future rain outs will be deemed as abandoned and points will be split as dictated by the rules.
Speaking of the rules there are a few that need to be stressed for the benefit of the league:
There are no games carded to start at 9:30am. That said be aware that after 15 minutes of the carded start time the team not present loses the toss and after 30 minutes the game is lost. SO BE ON TIME FOR YOUR GAMES!! Note that if your carded time is 12:00pm or 3:00pm the toss should be taken at that time whether or not the preceding game is finished or not. You can lose your game at 12:30/3:30 if your team is not present.
A team must have at least 7 players physically present on the field. A TEAM CANNOT START A GAME WITH SUBSTITUTES!
A player arriving after the 10th over is completed can no longer join the game. The team will have to complete the game without him and play short of that player. A substitute cannot be used in this case. Substitutes cannot be used for players having to leave for any reason other than injury. Therefore, if a team's player has to leave to go to another game, for example, a substitute is not allowed for this reason.
ALCOHOL IS NOT PERMITTED AT ANY OF THE VENUES. PARKS DEPARTMENT WILL BE VIGILANT IN 2013.
We look forward to a thrilling and competitive 2013 season with appreciation and respect for the league rules, but more importantly, the parks' rules if we are to continue to enjoy our pastime.
Thank you and good luck!!
