The paper on our project with Heliotis AG and University Hospital of Zürich appeared in Physiological Measurements:

Full-field optical coherence tomography for the rapid estimation of epidermal thickness: study of patients with diabetes mellitus type 1

The task of the project was to develop fast and robust method for the quantification of epidermal thickness. We've given a try to full-field optical coherence tomography while controlling the results with a laser scanning confocal microscope. Measurements with a confocal microscope requires image analysis by experience operator which is a really time consuming procedure, while OCT data can be processed in a fully automatic mode. We've obtained a nice correlation of both methods which allows us to conclude that OCT can be applied for this task.
