Great! If you've come this far, you must think that you have what it takes (personally and technically) to be a successful online student. Then I'm sure that you'd like to learn more about the content and workload of this class, as well as my expectations. Even if you've taken a distance education class before, the virtual classroom can look very different from class to class, teacher to teacher, and subject to subject so it is very important that you spend time during the first weeks of class familiarizing yourself not only with how the virtual classroom is setup (i.e. Canvas) but also with my expectations of you (i.e. the Course Curriculum).
This is also known as eLearning and will be the primary website that you use for this class. Everything is accessed and completed through Canvas so it is essential that you login in regularly early in the semester to get familiar with how Canvas works. Here are some quick links to help you:
You will not be able to access my class website until the first day of the semester but you will want to spend some time getting familiar with how to use Canvas as well as how I have designed the class website in Canvas during that first week. Even if you've taken an online class before, not all classes look the same so it can take several weeks to get comfortable in the class website. Once the semester has started, if you are confused or can't find something in Canvas the best place to get answers to those questions is in our FAQ.
Registered Students Only: This activity must be completed no later than the end of Week 1. Please feel free to complete it now or wait until Week 1.
This is the meat and bones of the class! For more information about what you are going to be doing this semester you can review the documents below. Please take the time to thoroughly review the class syllabus! For this part of your Student Introduction you are going to post a comment and/or question about my policies and expectations in the Class Syllabus or in the Class Calendar. You will need to be logged into your Los Rios Apps to access and comment on these course documents:
