Raphanea, Seleucis and Pieria, Syria. Seleucis and Pieria was a district of northwest Syria, bordering the Mediterranean, just north of Phoenicia. Raphanea (Rafniyeh) 32° 54' N, +36° 10' E (google satellite map) was southwest of Epiphaneia (Hamah) Google satellite map of where Hamah is. Near Emesa, Raphanea was the fortified headquarters of the Legio III Gallica from which was launched the successful bid of 14-year-old Elagabalus to become Roman Emperor in 218.
The following three coins are very similar types. The references are what were given by the sellers. According to Butcher, examples of bulls on coins from Raphanea can be found on BMC Galatia etc., p. 267. I do not currently have access to this volume, Lingren, nor SNG COP.
