A. Professional Development
Whether you plan to attend grad school or get a job immediately after graduating, eventually you will be in a position to negotiate with a potential employer. Unfortunately, negotiating skills are rarely taught, either at the undergraduate or graduate level. Here is your chance to learn the secrets of professional negotiating. Before the Poster Symposium, from 3-4 PM, Marilyn Mackiewicz will present her famous and popular workshop in Negotiating Skills. This workshop is open to all students, not just presenters.
B. Recruiting
Halfway through the Poster Symposium, from 5:15 to 5:45, there will be a 30 minute break during which no authors are required to be at their posters. We hope that students will use this time to speak directly to representatives of the companies/schools they are interested in. Note that authors’ poster time – the finite time when you must be at your poster – will be staggered so all presenters will have time during the session for networking among peers, visiting recruiters and sponsors, and eating.
