The references included provide an accurate glimpse of the professionalism I have displayed and continue to display throughout my teaching career. In particular they show that my commitment to my career and my students has always been exemplary. In my first teaching assignment, Laurie Valentine, the principal in charge of my assignment stated “[Bernice] has performed her duties with an exceptional level of professional integrity, competence and commitment”. Twenty-one years later, Lindi Pierce, the principal of Sagonaska demonstration school stated “Bernice is a reflective practitioner, constantly researching the best practice and incorporating new and creative ideas into provincial curriculum”. The voice of a student summarizes my philosophy on leadership best. By coaching and encouraging a student, I was able to help her to overcome a fear of public speaking enabling her to successfully share a message very important to her. In thanks for my support Stephanie Gagnon wrote: “If it was not for you, I would have lost the opportunity to stand up and share my speech and to have the confidence to do that”. I am a dedicated educator constantly striving to ensure all professional obligations are completed with great care and precision and that all people, both staff and students, with whom I am fortunate enough to work with find the experience of working with me to be rewarding and enriching.
