Goal 1: Personalization Through Flipped Classroom
Goal 1: Between March and June 2016, I will use the Flipped Classroom model as a way of personalizing Sophomore Biology and Junior-Senior Anatomy & Physiology. By using this platform, aspects of personalized learning may manifest themselves. These manifestations include but are not limited to: learning at one’s own pace, question-driven curricula, project-based learning (Google site platform, online science notebook based platform), hands-on activities to accompany videos/content, NGSX inquiry-based phenomena learning to accompany interest levels of learners. I will keep track of which of these aspects manifest themselves and which I find to be the most effective (from a teacher point of view).
Goal 2: Action Research Project to determine if Goal 1 is working
Goal 2: Between March and June 2016, gather data on the use of the Flipped Classroom model in both Sophomore Biology and Junior-Senior Anatomy & Physiology. Poll students using Google form and informally figure out from students (class-wide or individual conversations) the way that the model works best for them. In this way, students will indicate to me which aspects of the personalized learning of the model work best for them (interesting to compare with which aspects I find the most effective).
Goal 3: History of PLP Implementation
Goal 3: Between March and June 2016, learn about the history of PLPs at U-32 (now called e.portfolios). Ask colleagues about best practices related to goal-setting, e.portfolios, and the current PLP program being used; Naviance. Informally (or formally if administration approves it) poll teachers to see what personalization techniques are already being employed in the school, and which aspects of personalization teachers are having the most success with.
